Executive Coaching
Some people don’t understand what Executive Coaching is
and have preconceptions.
What Executive Coaching is not
It’s not mentoring
It’s not counselling
I don’t tell you what to do
I don’t judge
I don’t advise
So how can you help me?
Change is the unstoppable dynamic today. We nearly all hate it, especially if we have not chosen it. Realising that you may have to change how you do things, or how you think, can be difficult to contemplate.
It might be something that you have never had to do before: in the past you may have moved to another company, been relocated or managed to avoid the issue.
Or this could be the first time you have had a major problem at work, and it has created a brick wall that you are struggling to climb.
What do you do?
Clients have more of the answers and resources to their problems within themselves than they think. My job is to help them become more aware of the choices that can solve those problems and more skilled at executing them.
My coaching is about helping conversations. They are based on a framework of enquiry-based learning – this means becoming more curious about yourself, what’s important to you and how you impact on others. The aim is to increase your self-awareness concerning your current behaviours and provide a platform for change.
How do I work?
Our work is completely confidential and will never be disclosed to your employer, or others.
My job is to largely listen whilst you explain your situation. I will only give you suggestions if you ask for them. You are in control of the conversation.
My role is to facilitate our discussions by asking questions which enables you to come to your own conclusions about what decisions you want to take next.
How we move forward
We go at your pace, you learn to understand yourself better and adopt different behaviours that – as in most aspects of life – will involve some risk.
Does it work?
If you have never committed to professional executive coaching before, it might come across as a bit left field. But yes, it does work and nearly all major companies have an Executive Coaching service.
Apart from anything else, it gives key employees an opportunity to reflect in a non-threatening environment, away from the very pressures that are causing the issues in the first place.
